A vape shop and a Panera in a strip mall, with a base model Altima outside. This is the most American pic I have ever seen.

What’s your plan for surviving the experience? I had one of these for a rental. It was pretty awful.

More so than American Gothic?

Actually, I take that back.

As much as I love a creepy Father/Daughter painting, yes.

Remember not to stop at D, go straight into Ds every time. That’s sport mode and the car will mimic a real transmission if you give it the beans.

As a rental car company employee, it’s the only way I can tolerate driving one.

I had a Sentra, how can a CVT be so horrible? Seriously, just the worst.

At least it looks better inside and out than my 4.5 gen Altima....it's the most lifeless car in the world.

How fast can it go in reverse?

Why does the Coupe have different brake pads and rotors than the Sedan???

Can it do hand brake turns?

While moving, does it actively fight any request for additional acceleration short of a full-on flooring of the gas pedal? I had that experience with a rental Altima a couple years ago. Been avoiding them ever since.

Actually, just tested this and yes. It does feel like that and there seems to be a delay/lack of additional acceleration unless I go WOT

Possibly, it's got a stupid foot actuated e brake that's attached to the underside of the dash instead of the floor, so I'll have to do some gymnastics

Because it's a Nissan and everything is terrible

Not very, but it has a rear view camera at least so I can see what I'm about to hit at reverse WOT

That gas pedal calibration is really irritating. I’m guessing Nissan did that for sake of fuel economy, but it’s totally worthless. My fiancee’s Impreza has a CVT, and other than occasionally pegging the tach at a steady RPM like when going up an on-ramp, it has no misbehaving gas pedal. It still manages well over 30 mpg even with awd.

In the same way a Pontiac Aztek could be considered a reasonable purchase.

My car in the shop is a 5 speed cobalt, with the only revealing quality being the sedan as a very surprisingly large trunk and also the manual. So almost anything is better. I'm enjoying the way more comfortable seats and more power, but it's still going to be hard.

Yeah wtf is that about? I had it on auto and about 7:30 rolled around and I looked in the reflection of a shop and there were no lights on. I just put on DRL’s. How do I get them to the right night time setting?

I assume there’s a stalk on the left side of the steering column, and on that stalk, a rotating switch that you can rotate all the way forward (two clicks?) to turn on the headlights.

The Nissan does that as well (pegging at constant RPM in those types of situations) and I find it incredibly annoying.

In our Subaru it usually only pegs the RPM in situations where it makes sense. Like going up an on-ramp it’s actually helpful to keep the not-very-powerful motor in its sweet spot. I’ve got no complaints about the transmission in that car. It’s not overtly sporty but that’s not its purpose. Whereas the Nissans with the CVT, they’re irritating even in normal everyday driving situations.
